Sports & Culture
Our school provides a variety of authentic sporting, art and cultural opportunities to all children. Our students were involved in the planning and creation of the many art pieces you can see, as you stroll around our school environment. These art pieces share both the cultures of the children at our school as well as the culture of our school.
Learning opportunities in culture and The Arts include:
- Weekly Kapa Haka
- Singing
- Polyfest
- School Production
- Student lead Talent Fests
- Regular visits to our local Marae
- Learning from artists and experts in the community in music, art and drama
- Guitar lessons on a Tuesday afternoon with Chris from the Modern School of Music
- Extension opportunities such as Ma-Fi Arts programme, african drumming, dance

Sport
Fitness is promoted through daily fitness and weekly P.E. sessions run by class teachers. The concept of ‘tuakana-teina’ where our seniors look after and support our younger children can be readily seen at whanau group fortnightly Fun Friday games afternoons. We are also fortunate to have Year 12 and 13 students from our local secondary school, Kaikorai Valley College, coach sport skills at times through their Growing Coaches Programme.
Kelly Sports also run a lunchtime programme for students as an optional lunch time activity.

The sports above vary from year to year depending on the availability of coaches. Thank-you to our wonderful parent community who offer their time and skills to coach and manage teams. We also welcome offers of coaching for sports other than those listed above.
Otago Polyfest
The video below shows Bradford School performing in 2018. Otago Polyfest is now an annual event and a vibrant celebration of Māori and Pasifika cultural performances including kapa haka and waiata performed by groups from Otago schools in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
