Please note we legally are required to put a general reason (e.g. unwell, appointment etc.) for absence on the electronic attendance register.

Severe Weather Procedures

If ever you wake up to snow on the ground, snow showers or severe road conditions due to ice, please listen out to the cancellations on the local radio stations from 7am onwards. A blanket decision is made by a representative of the Otago Primary Principal’s Association, in consultation with the police on whether a late start or closure of all schools is necessary for safety reasons. If a cancellation or late start is announced (and the internet is working) we then also put a message on class web pages and an e-mail is sent out to those who are on our email list of addresses. If a late start (usually 10am) has been announced, it is a good idea to keep the radio on with an ear out, as this can quickly change to a closure.

Late Starts
If there is ever a late start, the time applies to both students and staff to ensure we can all travel here safely from the different areas we all live in. Therefore, it is important that children do not arrive before the announced time.
