Our Opportunities

Our school provides a variety of authentic sporting, art and cultural opportunities to all children.  Our students were involved in the planning and creation of the many art pieces you can see, as you stroll around our school environment.  These art pieces share both the cultures of the children at our school as well as the culture of our school.  Learning opportunities in culture and The Arts include:
  • Weekly music sessions with specialist teacher  Anna Bowen
  • Weekly Kapa Haka
  • School Singing
  • Choir
  • Polyfest
  • School Production
  • Student lead Talent Fests
  • Regular visits to our local Marae
  • Learning from artists and experts in the community in music, art and drama
  • Guitar Club lead by our amazing singing caretaker Mr Graham

  Sport

Our senior students lead daily fitness for our whole school.  The concept of ‘tuakana-teina’ where our seniors look after and support our younger children can be readily seen at fitness as the children travel around the rotations in their whanau groups.  We are also fortunate to have Year 12 and 13 students from our local secondary school, Kaikorai Valley College, coach sport skills on a weekly basis.

Sport Otago Facilitator, Sean is a regular visitor to Bradford and runs skills sessions with each class.  This supports the weekly P.E. sessions run by class teachers.

Sporting opportunities available to students during the year include:

T-Ball

Futsal

Netball

Rippa Rugby

Touch Rugby

Hockey

Mini-Ball

The sports above vary from year to year depending on the availability of coaches.  Thank-you to our wonderful parent community who offer their time and skills to coach and manage teams. We also welcome offers of coaching for sports other than those listed above.
